Potty Training Advice From Carol Cline

by Carol Cline on April 26, 2012

I have mothers who come up to me every day and ask me “Carol, is there really such thing as potty training in three days?”

Lets face it, todays working parent is busier than ever and this means they are all looking to get their child out of diapers and onto the toilet as fast as possible.

I have heard every nightmare story there is when it comes to getting their kids out of diapers. If one thing is for sure, parents need to be ready just as much as their child is ready.

While some parents think that is can be done in 3 days flat the truth is you should be prepared for at least 7 days. By the end of the 7 days your child will be potty trained but you should know that this is not the time to stop.

Try and stick to your child’s side all day long in hopes of being there for when the time comes they actually need to use the potty. Miss even one mistake and you all looking at prolonging your training by an entire day or two.

I tell parents that there will be times when potty training that the hardest and most important thing you can do is simply remain positive about the entire thing. your little one can pick up on even the slightest hints you put off that you wish you could quit. If you want to quit, so will they!

Another important factor in getting your child to be toilet trained is that you must be completely consistent. When you see your child about to have an accident you need to run over to them and carry them to the bathroom quickly.

The worst thing you can do if you want to really have your child potty trained quickly is let a single accident go unnoticed. If you are not consistently bringing them to the potty every time you child will start thinking this is something they can get away with. Leading to extra weeks of training and chance of regression.

The reason Carol Cline has become such a large name in the potty training community is simply because my to the point advice works like a charm for those who put it to the test and follow my advice word for word.
