Language Lessons: 3 Week Long Summer Language Lessons

by Paul Hynes on April 23, 2012

For secondary school pupils in Ireland, learning a language for either the junior cert or perhaps the leaving cert can be a challenging and frankly, potentially a subject that you really don’t like. Obviously, on the flip side there are several that like to learn languages and will continue later in life pursuing the language and anything it has to offer! Every single student has his or her favourite subject and least favourite subject, that’s regular.

In Ireland it is possible to take a multitude of languages for the leaving cert, although if you wish to learn something aside from Spanish, French or German, you commonly have to learn it away from school in privately organised language lessons, maybe over the summer months although there are exceptions when the demand is substantial in some schools!

A lot of students search for extra assistance with the language they’ve picked, whether it is from close friends, family members, teachers or external grinds, so that they can comprehend the language and understand it as much as is possible! Many schools tell pupils that if they work hard enough in school they don’t need additional help, but that may well not be the case for each and every pupil, since naturally, they all learn in different ways and so learn at varied speeds also!

Many students found a reward in signing up for summer months language lessons with Euro Languages College, that run many summer language programs throughout the summer for junior cert and leaving cert students! The programs are in a choice of French, German or Spanish, and are usually held in five spots around Ireland. All these courses are located in boarding schools and go on for approximately three weeks, they’re residential, total immersion courses, that means the students need to speak only in their selected language and leave English at the entrance for the duration of the course! It might seem daunting to many students, but it is the perfect way to learn, and right after the initial worry the students like talking in a different language constantly.

Euro Languages College summer language lessons are generally a fun method to learn, students don’t merely learn from sitting in classes, but they learn in a genuine environment while completing various activities for instance football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, arts and crafts, drama, video – making workshops, debates, quizzes, board games, treasure hunts and a lot more.

The range of activities available depends on the facilities at the school the students sign up for.

If you are learning a language and might be interested in Language Lessons to boost your command, and you are currently in secondary school, then you can sign up for a Euro Languages College summer course! The courses run for 3 weeks in French, Spanish or German. These courses immerse you in a stimulating learning environment to improve your fluency.
